Seminar: Quantum Mobile Networks

Organization

  • Advisor: Prof. Dr. Torsten Braun
  • Coordination: Dr. Antonio Di Maio
  • Time: Every Friday, from 15:00 to 16:00
  • Location: Online (Zoom meeting room)
  • KSL registration (Bachelor students): link
  • JMCS webpage: (Master students): link
  • ACADEMIA registration (Master students): link
  • ILIAS webpage: link

Target Group

Bachelor, master, and Ph.D. students with basic knowledge of wireless/mobile networks OR (quantum) physics.

Master students can take these seminars as an elective course in their study plan.

Bachelor students can take these seminars in three ways: (1) Anticipate the ECTS for their planned Master's program. (2) Spending this course as "Freieleistungen" as a minor. (3) Request authorization to take this seminar to the Bachelor Studienleitung (Prof. Cachin).

Content

Weekly online meetings in which one group, composed of students from different partner universities and different backgrounds, gives a 30-minute talk, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session in which all participants can ask questions. The topic of each talk is to be agreed upon with the organizers (e.g., picked from the topic list hereafter). Each topic comprises articles from both fields (quantum communications and mobile networking). Each group prepares three questions on the presented topic for the other students to answer by uploading the answers on the University’s digital learning platform. Seminar sessions will be recorded and published for auditors and seminar participants who could not attend.

Attendance

Each presenter must prepare three questions about the content of the presentation. The other students will have to attend the talk and upload the answers to the talk's questions on ILIAS before the following Thursday at 23:59 in order to have their attendance accounted for.

Remarks

  • For BA/MSc students who need ECTS points, they may take the seminar as „Proseminar“ or a Master seminar respectively. In this case, the students must give at least one talk and a topic must be agreed upon with the seminar supervisor beforehand. Seminar topics are distributed in the first week of the semester.
  • The participation of 80% of the seminar talks is also needed to qualify for ECTS points. Excuses for important reasons (according to article 23 RSL) are accepted, proof is required in such cases. It is mandatory to attend the first class of the semester.
  • Seminar talks last 25 minutes, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.
